Because the American Jewish Historical Society houses Emma Lazaraus’ collection, including the notebook where she hand-wrote “The New Colossus,” this video explores Emma Lazarus’s life from primary sources. It helps students understand her perspective as well as tell the story for why she wrote the poem to fundraise for the Statute of Liberty.
